Piano

The piano is one of the most common instruments. It comes from the percussion family. There are two 17th century instruments that the piano descended from. On a clavichord the strings are struck by tangents and on a harpsichord the strings are plucked by quills. This article was made with help from Nana, my grandma.

Trumpet

The trumpet is a brass instrument in the band. The earliest trumpet dates back to 1500 B.C. Some of the earliest trumpets were bronze and silver horns from Tutankhamun's grave and bronze lurs from Scandanavia. Another example of an early trumpet is the metal trumpets from early China. Special thanks to my friend Aeriel for choosing a great picture of trumpets.

Guitar

You know the guitar as a common string instrument. But do you know its history? In medival times, there were 3 guitars. The guitarra moresca was a Moorish guitar and there was also a Latin guitar called the guitarra latina. The most famous of its time was the European lute.

Flute

A flute is a woodwind instrument. But just how old are they? Flutes are the oldest instrument in history. The first one is 43,000 years old. It was made of bear bone and had 3 holes. Another flute was the Chi flute. It was made in 433 B.C. and had 5 holes. The Chi flute was made of laquered bamboo.
